America the beautiful
Proper traitor here, spending Independence Day in the oppressive motherland. But my British lover sent me red, white, and blue cupcakes, which means he acknowledges the significance of the holiday, which is a step in the right direction.
USA may be imperfect, but it's home and it's where I can take a deep breath and feel the most like myself.
In honor of that, I am stepping away from the rabbit hole of YouTube The Patriot clips (RIP Heath) that I've found myself in to take a moment to think about the things I miss or expect I will most miss about America:

In honor of that, I am stepping away from the rabbit hole of YouTube The Patriot clips (RIP Heath) that I've found myself in to take a moment to think about the things I miss or expect I will most miss about America:
- Trader Joe's
- Feeling competent on the roadways
- The US dollar bills + change
- Dinner parties where you (and not the host) get to choose where you sit
- The American ringtone (it's different here!)
- Properly-sized, separate washers and dryers
- Target
- Air conditioning
- "Y'all"
- Chips and salsa being easy to find in the grocery store
- Morning commute radio shows
- Madewell
- Country songs that make you think of high school
- But mostly, my American friends + family
