Well, folks, the 30-day processing window has come and gone. As has the $800 we Jamie spent on priority processing for this silly, silly visa.

I've received multiple emails from UK Visas and Immigration stating that it would take 30 days, one as early as this morning, and then one very simple email today came that said they actually cannot give me a timescale for processing and thanking me for my patience, and while I'm upset that they're just now confirming that they can't actually give a timeline, I'm thankful for a little transparency.

Tonight, Jamie went to the theater with a friend to yet another show that we had tickets for while I read in my childhood bedroom. Disappointing, but not as disappointing as all of the missed evenings and weekends together we'd envisioned sharing during this time - the time we've wanted together since we've met all those years ago.

So now we wait.

But this is what I'm thankful for as we wait. I'm thankful we're nearing the end of the year, a time that seems to fly by with family and friends and holidays. I'm thankful that we're doing this in 2018, when we can see one another over our phones instantly and not have to wait for handwritten letters to cross the Atlantic (like my month-late birthday card he sent!). I'm thankful I can live with my generous parents, at home, in comfort, and not be desperate to get there because my own country is war-torn and impoverished. I'm thankful that I have a spouse I can trust completely, despite time and distance differences. And I'm thankful that I still have the fun (and even the not-so-fun) discovery phase of marriage to look forward to.
