Stacked fork
My husband is good at many things, but the way he eats is, by God, a think of beauty. Holding his cutlery in the continental style (fork in left, knife in right), he cuts off a somewhere-near-bite-size piece of each item on his plate, layers it on his fork (using his knife to shove it on, if necessary), and ends up with a sampler platter mouthful. I noticed it the other night, after we swapped plates. I'd been eating the steak and chips (fry) and salad as separate entries, but not him, not Jamie. With grace he would stack his fork - first chip, then steak, finally salad - and then dipped it all the aioli without losing a crumb! I am not exaggerating in the slightest when I say that I couldn't stop watching. And he can do it with anything! Rice! Soft eggs! Even the tiniest chopped things that always elude the tines of your fork! I will try to sneak a video.
As for me, I found some really cute black suede boots that fit mywide athletic calves, check them out here if you're interested. They were c.h.e.a.p., so I don't anticipate them lasting more than a season, but they truly look flyyyy. Though Jamie told me the back panel looks like wet suit material?!
I'm continuing to job search, but as a side project, I've started this and this. Couldn't resist the siren's call to be instafamous. This doesn't mean a return to personal posting, though. I like hiding behind an anonymous handle.
The boarding school trip was nothing like I expected - less Harry Potter wooden halls and more modern, US public high school sterile. We passed a number of staff that still remembered Jamie, and one even relayed a few stories in which my husband features in the buff. I took that as a good sign (the remembering, not the nudity) and am absolutely more open to the idea after a visit.
And I finally got a UK phone number! No longer living that #wifilyfe, I'm slowly but surely trying to connect with people. Text my US number if you haven't heard from me - I'll have it active for at least another month.
