Good writing
Wasssup, losers?!
That felt just tone-deaf enough that I'm going to keep it. I read an article that said we shouldn't start our writing with "I hope you're well" or "In these unprecedented times...", and we saw the new Budweiser ad last night, so you're getting the intersection of those two experiences.
I wanted to take a moment, a quick moment, to provide you with some peace by assuring you that the King-Garratt household has not used this time to be ultra productive. We have over purchased on Amazon. We have over purchased wine. We have missed the edible window on far too many avocados.
That said, I've had a few cheap wins:
- Water consumption - I've spent a lot of my adult life napping and feeling just a little bit irritated, and I'm now pretty sure it's because I've existed in a constant state of dehydration. I've been proactively drinking water for the past few weeks and haven't needed a single nap. As for my mood, well, I think that's just my general disposition.
- Shopping for my shape - As someone who prefers cold weather clothes, I'm tickled to have missed an entire season of warm-weather dressing. I need only get through summer and I can go back to my uniform of jeans/sweater/boots. But in the meantime, I was browsing the usual suspects, looking for some light options, and I finally, finally had the self-restraint to take the boxy dresses that make me look like this out of my shopping cart.
- Homemade Chick-Fil-A - Opinions on the brand aside, I miss it and I found a copycat recipe and made sandwiches and CFA sauce from scratch last night and it.was.dank.
- Instruction-less hard-boiled eggs - I always, always have to look up how to spell the word "accommodate", and I always, always have to look up how to hard-boil eggs. No mas, my friends. I have internalized the process, and this, this shall be my isolation magnum opus.
There was no guidance on how to end emails during these unprecedented times, so I want to say with all sincerity that I hope you, your family, and your friends have found ways to pass the days happily, tiredly, slowly, quickly, or however it is you've been able to get through them. xo
