Sardines for the first time

I don't know how I haven't mentioned my favorite Christmas gift: behold, the blanket sweatshirt! I'm so thankful to have two loving parents who know me well enough to SEEK OUT and order this, and I have camped out in it in the four or so weeks since Christmas. Jamie obviously hates it because he's left to imagine that I've gained 300 lbs under there, and who knows, maybe I have. At least I'm not always complaining about being cold.

In other Jamie news, we celebrated his 33rd over the weekend. I planned a surprise date night on Friday that included a Renzo Piano exhibit (for my exhibitionist) at the Royal Academy of Art, followed by the chef's menu at Levan. We tried sardines for the first time and they happily the scallops with mussels for me, so all in all it was great. On Sunday we hosted a houseful of his friends for brunch and I made a blackberry layered cake that, between cake and icing, had three lbs of butter. His big gift from me was a subscription to Sunday Times delivery, and after everyone left we laid on the couch and read the paper for two glorious hours.

Also:

• Our house is full of sugar and carbs that I have to actively avoid when in reality all I want to do is eat croissants covered in butter and jam. 
• I saw that Secret is releasing aluminum-free deodorant, at least stateside, and I'm so thrilled for my friends in the south who really and truly need the stuff!
• I just updated my LinkedIn profile, which seems to be a new necessity in the job search process. I remember when all we had to do was submit a resume and cover letter.
