Pictures, finally
| The giant forehead of my youth also makes a return. |
Less importantly, I'm on a train to Paris with no phone service to hotspot into some work a little time to knock out a few paragraphs. I think I promised Cornwall pics, oops, so here are a few. Sorry for overloading you with J; turns out when you take the pics you aren't in them.
We: shucked oysters, went to a vineyard, read on the beach, hiked the coast, played croquet while drinking gin, and ate (more oysters, ice cream, pasties, fish and chips, scones and cream, etc.).

| Still love seeing that ring on his finger. |
We also spent a night at Hotel Endsleigh, and myyyy goodness. The hotel was perfection, and the grounds were even better.
We spent last weekend in the countryside, with Jamie's godfather, who stuffed us with food and drink and sent us home with a shopping bag of apples and a crate full of wine. This weekend we're on the Isle of Wight with Jamie's goddaughter (who is being christened).

What I'm buying
- BIORE NOSE STRIPS, obviously.
- At the risk of sounding vain, these £12.99 trousers make my bottom half look bangin'. And they travel and commute well. Pro tip: Wear with a black bodysuit or mock turtleneck.
What I'm doing
- Baking this recipe because it's SO easy but knocks some socks off.
- Playing this music while I work...anywhere. But especially late at night, in French hotel rooms, where I've spent the better part of the last three weeks.
What I'm reading
- Home Fire is my favorite of the year, so far, and I really wish someone would read it so that we can talk about it.
- Finally got around to The Handmaid's Tale, thought it was ok but I wanted more detailssss. And call me crazy, but I couldn't ever get into the main character because she smoked with her kid in the car.
- I like Amos Towles (A Gentleman in Moscow) and so gave Rules of Civility a go. Liked, didn't love. I'd just read and really disliked Elizabeth Gilbert's City of Girls, and they felt so similar that it was hard to separate my feelings.

AmoR Towles is amazing - heard him speak in person and - genius. Okay. First Taylor Swift, and now sun-ripened raspberry. I know I did some time with Juniper Breeze, but both Plumeria AND Sun-Ripened Raspberry sound so familiar to me that I'm having a hard time remembering which one was mine. BUT. I think it might have been SRR. And so I'm sad we're no longer friends. Sniff sniff. Gonna go now to mourn you. (Add The Great Believers by Rebecca Makkai to your list - best book I've read in a long time.) xoxo
ReplyDeleteThere's a clause that says if you mothered the Vanimal we can still be friends, clearly you didn't read the fine print. And adding that book to the list! xxx
DeleteOk this whole post is basically amazing and perfection. Can you please adopt me? It also makes me want to bust out my Biore strips tonight... thanks for the inspiration! :)
